On November 28, Politecnico di Milano hosted “Working in Photonics – Overview of the Italian Photonics Landscape”, an event aimed at connecting Engineering Physics students with the diverse and thriving photonics industry. Organized by Professor Daniela Comelli in the framework of EU-funded CARLA project, the event featured a dynamic speed-dating format designed to foster direct and meaningful exchanges between students and professionals in the field.
The program highlighted the diversity of the photonics landscape in Italy, showcasing the exciting roles and innovations emerging from this cutting-edge sector. The students had the opportunity join a networking open session where the opportunity to connect informally, exchange ideas, and discuss the latest trends in photonics. Additionally, they met with Politecnico di Milano Alumni who are now working in the photonics industry. These conversations offered a unique chance to learn directly from those with firsthand experience about career paths, industry demands, and opportunities within photonics. Alumni shared their professional journeys, detailing the challenges, milestones, and unique opportunities they have encountered, inspiring attendees to consider photonics as a rewarding career path.
CARLA and 360 CARLA events like this one are a testament to the power of collaboration between academia and industry, equipping students with the knowledge and connections needed to thrive in the evolving photonics ecosystem.
