360 CARLA Training Berlin

The Max Born Institute, the Institute of Physics of the NAS of Ukraine and the Kyiv Academic University are delighted to invite you to the upcoming 360 CARLA Training “Quantum Materials: from ARPES to trARPES”, taking place online.
When: 16 September 2026
Where: Online
Registrations: Applications close on 4 September 2026 via this page. Selected participants will be notified during the week of 7 September 2026. Participation is free of charge.
This training offers an introduction to quantum materials and ultrafast spectroscopy, aimed at MSc students, PhD students and early-career researchers in physics, materials science and related fields. The programme covers the fundamentals of ARPES for mapping the electronic band structure of solids, the use of ultrafast lasers and XUV sources to bring ARPES into the time domain, and the transition from ARPES to trARPES for probing ultrafast electron dynamics. Participants will also learn how to gain fully funded access to trARPES facilities (e.g. at LACUS) through the Lasers4EU TNA programme, and how to connect with experts and future collaborators across European laser labs. Applications are particularly encouraged from researchers based in countries and institutions with limited local access to advanced laser and photoemission infrastructures.
The training is funded by the Horizon Europe project 360 CARLA and delivered in collaboration with Lasers4EU and the German-Ukrainian Centre for Research on Quantum Materials (GU-QuMat).
Don’t miss this opportunity to deepen your understanding of quantum materials and gain access to cutting-edge ultrafast spectroscopy infrastructure!
