360 CARLA experience Bratislava

On October 24, 2024, the Slovak Centre of Scientific and Technical Information, in collaboration with the Research Center for Quantum Information at the Institute of Physics of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, hosted an event as part of the CARLA 360 project.

This event aimed to offer practical experience in the field of quantum technologies. It took place at the QUTE Pavilion of the Slovak National Center for Quantum Technologies, Dúbravská cesta 9, Bratislava on October 24, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Target Audience: The event was designed for students and university graduates interested in quantum technologies. Participants had the opportunity to: 

  • Gain insights within the working environment of the Research Center for Quantum Information at the Institute of Physics of the Slovak Academy of Sciences. 
  • Explore potential career paths and opportunities in the field of quantum technologies. 
  • Learn about current research challenges in quantum technologies in Slovakia and worldwide. 
  • Understand the principles of the Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) protocol. 
  • Network with professionals working in a field quantum technologies.

The activity was conducted in English; refreshments and lunch were provided by the organization.

Participation Requirements: Students registered online providing a brief motivation statement about their interest in attending. Due to limited spots, the result of the selection process was communicated by email.

11:00 – 12:15 Research center guided tour, including interactive discussions between students and employees (QUTE)
12:15 – 12:30 Roundtable discussion focused on skills and knowledge required for job opportunities at the research center (QUTE)
12:30 – 13:15 Networking lunch with selected employees of the research center (MLC, QUTE)*
13:15 – 15:15 Basic principles of the Quantum Key Distribution protocol. Practical activities in the laboratory (QUTE)
15:15 – 15:25 Insights on how to prepare an impactful post (MLC)
15:25 – 15:30 Distribution of participation certificates to students (MLC)
