360 CARLA Symposium Wageningen

Join us for the 360 CARLA Career Symposium “Optics and Photonics in Agrifood and Biomolecular Science”, taking place on 15 September 2026 between Wageningen and Den Bosch (the Netherlands).

This one-day event, organised by TU Delft, bridges the gap between academic excellence and industry opportunities in photonics, with a focus on applications in Agrifood and Biomolecular Science. The programme combines plenary talks, company visits, career-focused workshops and networking, and is aimed at HBO, Master’s, PhD and postdoctoral participants.

When: 15 September 2026
Where: Morning at Wageningen University & Research (WUR) | Afternoon in Den Bosch
Registration: Apply via this link by September 4th.

The morning, hosted at WUR, opens with plenary talks on optics in agrifood and optics in biomolecular science, followed by guided campus tours to three research centres: NPEC (Netherlands Plant Eco-phenotyping Centre), showcasing optical technologies for plant phenotyping; OnePlanet Research Center, presenting integrated photonics innovations in health, agriculture, food and the environment; and the NanoFACT facilities, focused on optical nano-chemical analysis.

The afternoon moves to Den Bosch with a deep-dive lecture on photonics and metasurfaces by Ahmed Dorrah (TU Eindhoven), followed by two parallel workshops: one on non-academic careers in photonics, the other on preparing a CV and getting interview-ready. The day closes with drinks and networking.

The 360 CARLA Career Symposium targets HBO students, Master’s and PhD students, and postdoctoral researchers interested in photonics applications in agrifood and biomolecular science, as well as those exploring career paths beyond academia.

Come and discover how photonics is shaping the future of agrifood and biomolecular science and where your career could take you!
