360 CARLA training Paris
On December 19, 2024, Institut d’Optique Graduate School (IOGS) hosted in its premises a 1-day training session on cold atom interferometry in the framework of IOGS yearly Quantum Week and as part of the 360 CARLA project.
This event aimed at offering conceptual and technological insights in the field of quantum technologies, in particular in the field of gravimetry using atomic clouds. The event was supervised and chaired by Benjamin Vest, Associate Professor of Optics at IOGS. The main speaker and trainer for this session was Vincent Ménoret, R&D manager for Inertial sensors at Exail.
The event was designed for MSc students and university graduates with background in optics and photonics with a strong interest in quantum technologies.
Participants had the opportunity to:
- Understand the basics of coherent control of atoms and atomic interferometry
- Understand the principles of gravity field measurement using cold atoms.
- Discover the role and impact of photonics in a cold atom gravimeter system.
- Via remote control of an actual gravimeter, acquire real-time interferometric data and exploit them to perform basic calibration steps of a gravimeter
- Discuss career path and opportunities in quantum technologies companies.
The activity was conducted in English; refreshments and lunch were provided by the organization.
