April 25th, 2025

The 360 CARLA Manufacturing/Industry 4.0 Experience in Bratislava was held at the FIRST WELDING COMPANY, Inc. (FWCI) on April 17, 2025. Organized by the Slovak Centre of Scientific and Technical Information in cooperation with the FWCI as part of the 360 CARLA project, the event was specifically designed for preselected students and young researchers from various disciplines. The event provided a unique opportunity to nine participants to engage with the cutting-edge Manufacturing/Industry 4.0 – Laser and Hybrid Welding, gain hands-on experience, and explore potential career paths and opportunities in this field.

The event began with an inspiring talk by Dr. Jaroslav Bruncko, the expert for Laser, Electron Beam and Hybrid Welding. His insights into the evolution of  Laser, Electron Beam, and Hybrid Welding and the future of Manufacturing/Industry 4.0 – Laser and Hybrid Welding in Slovakia set a motivational tone for the participants.

In addition, the activity included a company presentation, showcasing state-of-the-art company equipment.

The participants had the opportunity to meet with four employees during a panel discussion. The employees shared details over their career paths and provided insights about current opportunities for implementing diploma and doctoral theses within the company, requirements for new employees, employment opportunities, working conditions, and the company’s current large orders in the field of Laser, Electron Beam, and Hybrid welding.

The activity concluded with a guided tour organized to allow participants to experience a real production environment for Laser, Electron Beam and Hybrid welding. The attendees observed and interact with large fiber lasers for welding, robotic welding, automatic welding machines and special welding processes.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the FWCI for providing us with the invaluable opportunity to gain hands-on experience with Manufacturing/Industry 4.0 – Laser and Hybrid Welding as part of the 360 CARLA project.
