VUB hosts “Let’s Talk Quantum” event for International Year of Quantum Science

On March 28, Vrije Universiteit Brussel became the meeting ground for quantum enthusiasts as Brussels Photonics B-PHOT, together with the B-PHOT Student Chapter, organized the latest 360 CARLA Quantum Capsule event, Let’s Talk Quantum, marking the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology.

The hybrid event welcomed around 30 participants and featured two renowned speakers: Dr. Gabrielle Thomas of Menlo Systems (Germany) and Dr. Tatevik Chalyan from VUB’s B-PHOT Brussels Photonics. Both, also Optica Ambassadors, explored the role of optical frequency combs in quantum sensing and highlighted how squeezed light is driving progress in quantum technologies.

Beyond inspiring talks, the event encouraged valuable networking among students, researchers, and invited guests. Participants also enjoyed guided visits to state-of-the-art facilities at the Photonics Innovation Center and the Etterbeek campus, supported by the VUB B-PHOT team.

With the strong support of the B-PHOT Student Chapter—providing both organizational help and funding—the event showcased the importance of collaboration and community in shaping the future of quantum innovation.
